Modern Strategies in Biofilm Control: Integrating Air Polishing and Ultrasonic Instrumentation

This course translates evidence-based periodontal and implant maintenance strategies into practical, chairside skills that directly improve patient care. Participants will learn how to integrate modern air polishing technologies into practice and refine techniques to manage biofilm more efficiently, enhancing patient comfort, often increasing case acceptance, and enabling faster results.
Subgingival glycine powder air polishing (GPAP) is highlighted to demonstrate how this minimally invasive modality can be integrated into practice for supportive periodontal therapy. The program also covers optimal ultrasonic instrumentation techniques and the differences between piezo and magnetostrictive ultrasonic technologies.

- Describe Evidence-Based Decision Making (EBDM) principles and their relevance to periodontal and implant maintenance.
- Explain the clinical rationale and mechanism of action of subgingival glycine powder air polishing.
- Differentiate magnetostrictive and piezoelectric ultrasonic technologies based on movement patterns and clinical adaptation.
