Additional Information

Senior Oral Health Lecturer in Dental Hygiene, Jane Rossi is an accomplished and registered dental hygiene practitioner with a Bachelor Degree in Vocational Education and Training. As a senior lecturer and program coordinator of the TAFE SA Dental Hygiene Program, her professional and academic experience spans a period of 24 years. Jane's expertise and interests lie in clinical practice, dental science, head and neck anatomy, communication studies, smoking cessation and motivational interviewing interventions.

As a leader in her field, Jane was involved during the developmental years of the Bachelor of Oral Health offered at the University of Adelaide where she co-ordinated dental hygiene clinical practice, dental science and co-lectured in head and neck anatomy. Jane's considered and innovative approach to dental hygiene training earnt her the TAFE SA Gold Medal in 2011. Her pursuance of on-line Moodle development ensured that all learning materials were available on-line including program initiatives, lectures, podcasts and assessment tasks. She also implemented a part-time program where students from remote and/or interstate locations could begin their didactic learning from home whilst participating in blocks of clinical practice. Students then completed their final year study in either full time or part-time internal mode. This innovation catered for a recognized student cohort of mature aged applicants and those interstate wishing to achieve their dental hygiene qualifications in South Australia.

Jane has been involved in many professional co-curricular activities including the TAFE SA Executive Board, on-line mentor program, Dental Hygienist's Association of Australia, Australian Dental Council School Evaluation Teams, and Dental Advisory Boards' industry and school.

In recent years, Jane accepted a role as a Dental Scientific Liaison for Johnson & Johnson Pacific. In this role, she traveled to dental schools in Australia and New Zealand presenting to dentist, dental hygiene and oral health therapy students on tobacco use cessation and motivational interviewing, Rinse to Prevent -- infection control management and oral hygiene promotion. Jane also trained the Johnson & Johnson Pacific professional oral team and facilitated bi-annual Advisory Board meetings where she guided the development of two working guidelines for Rinse to Prevent and Smoking Cessation--evidence and practice for the dental professional.

Jane is now working with Hu-Friedy as an educational consultant where she visits dental schools to run training programs on introduction to instrumentation, advanced instrumentation, instrument sharpening and periodontal treatment planning and diagnosis.
